General Description and Biology

The undead are neither alive nor dead. Stuck in between. They do not need food, though many crave it. They do not need to breath, but many do. Depending on the type of undead they come back as, they have different features. Banshee are often cadaverous men and women who wail, often looking for those who wronged them to drag them down into unlife with them. Often they inhabit new bodies instead of their old ones- their soul placed into a corpse that has a similar need for revenge while the soul of that corpse has moved on. Revenants, too have come out of the grave, corpses come back to life and infused with their original soul. These are more likely to have clearer memories of their life. Zombies and even Skeletons have been known to claw their way back out of the grave with or without a little bit of help. The undead will rot away in their inhabited body and there is little they can do to stop that. With magic, they can hide their corpse-like state. This can be a stepping stone to true resurrection or just a stop over while they seek to complete their unfinished business.

Origin and Lore

Raised from the dead or they clawed their way back from the land of the dead in a new form. Driven by unfinished business. Often they seek revenge, retribution and are singularly focused on their mission. Though, some have a mission that is unrelated to their actual death, the details can be fuzzy, leaving only the feeling that it needs to be done. Others know exactly what their purpose is.

Special Notes

This is an Application race if you die IC and not starting life as one. If you are starting as an undead, you may be asked to provide a history for this and will be held to the maximum lifespan. Otherwise, this is a way to come back from the dead with intervention by staff/Gods to complete unfinished business or get resurrected. When a character dies, they can be formally resurrected and consume an IC life, or they can come back as an undead. If they come back as an undead, if they die again as an undead, they cannot resurrect. If they are formally resurrected while they are an undead, they consume their IC life and resume their status as the living.
