General Description and Biology
Rawulves are humanoids with the characteristics of canines. Rawulves are often tall, muscular, and generally intimidating for smaller races. Most commonly displaying the characteristics of wolves, dogs, hyenas, Rawulves looking like other canines aren't unheard of. While Some rawulves do have more human-like skin partially covering their bodies; all Rawulves have tails, canine teeth, and sharp claws, as well as a thick pelt of fur around their bodies that protects them from even the harshest cold. Their facial features are also canine-like, having snouts, canine noses, and large ears. They are omnivorous, but prefer fresh food over dried or preserved foods. They have very keen hearing and sense of smell, able to scent things from up to a mile off if the wind is right. They make excellent trackers due to this.
Basic Personality
Militaristic at best, savage and war-like at worst, Rawulves are often compared to Orcs when it comes to aggressiveness. Rawulves believe that strength is the most important thing in life. They are not stupid however, just uneducated and generally superstitious. Rawulves tend towards neutrality, keeping away from ideas of good and evil and only worrying about keeping themselves alive and their responsibility to their pack-mates. They do tend to be more war-like, favoring strength over cunning. This doesn't mean they are stupid, but they are straight forward in confrontation and lean into militaristic if not outright aggression when threatened or when on the move.
Origin and Lore
The rawulves history is buried and lost, but it's not forgotten. Passed down from generation to generation, rawulves believe they are the descendants of the great empire of Bauu. This empire was ruled by the family of Ohmset and it is believed the continent of Thathoth was controlled entirely by this empire many eons ago. Their creator blessed the first Ohmset and his people with diversity; over 300 different kinds of rawulves existed in the Bauu empire. Each Rawulf pack had a representative serve in the congress of Bauu where matters were discussed in forum. While ferocity runs in the blood of all rawulves, their desire to know and learn knew no bounds. It is said the first ship was designed by Rawulf engineers and the first navy of Tirradyn was constructed by Rawulf generals. It is said the Ohmset clan sought to expand their reach beyond the lush and fertile Thathoth lands. They took residence and claimed property in Samadnar, in Elzeothis, and even in Ariandor. (see help Rawulf-history)
Naming Conventions
They have a tribe or pack name, a family name and a given name. Examples include: Jurlok Shadowstorm of the Mulduri Tribe; Shaktra the Desertfang
Preferred Habitat
They prefer cooler climates, but are known to form Pack Communities all over. Including the Mulduri tribe on Elzeothis.
Society Structure
Rawulves live in Packs, usually around family and extended families. These large packs have a hierarchy with an "Alpha" at the top. The Alphas job is to care for the pack as a lead wolf does. Some packs even have multiple Alphas. Below this are Shamans and Spiritualists who help to teach and guide the pack. There are warriors and craftsmen as well, forming the bulk of their society. Community means everything to a Rawulf, and one is always expected to fulfill his or her role for the better of the pack. The worst shame one can be given is to be cast out of the pack. Individuals who have been cast out usually try to search for a new purpose for their life, either a new pack to join or a new alpha to follow.
