Craeth was once a noble of House Stavios, second son of its leader, and warrior of the Draconian city of Dhurza, devoted to defending his people and serving his city. His downfall began when he attempted to warn the then Regent-Lord, Selvantul, of a supernatural threat known as the Kanmoqmoq, believing the danger posed an existential threat to Draconian kind as it roamed and destroyed cities across Ethica. Rather than heed Craeth's warning, Selvantul accused him of conspiring with the enemy and attempting to grasp political power for himself. Craeth found himself under warning of being branded a traitor, and that the forces of Dhurza under Selvantul's claw would be sent after him and his family. With no way to defend his name or make Selvantul listen, Craeth was forced to leave the city to save his family and his House's name. Despite this exile, Craeth refused to abandon his duty as a warrior, and trained to be a Knight. He traveled Tirradyn and independently joined those working against the Kanmoqmoq, believing that protecting innocent lives mattered more than the political accusations made against him. What began as an attempt to defend Draconian society ultimately became a journey that changed his understanding of faith, leadership, and his own place in the world. During his adventures, Craeth encountered the teachings and influence of Seneca, God of Nature. The experiences he gained while fighting the Kanmoqmoq led him to embrace Seneca's ideals, and he eventually chose to worship Him. Seeking a place among those who followed Seneca, Craeth attempted to join the religion of Nadur. His request, however, was met with silence. He received neither an answer nor assistance, something he came to associate with his earlier experiences with the religion's leadership. Craeth had previously spoken out against the disturbing behavior of Khan Halger and Khan Sern, believing that their actions violated the laws of Dragondale City. Despite his objections, both Khans escaped meaningful consequences. Whether protected by diplomatic immunity, their political influence, or the wealth necessary to persuade the guards to look the other way, they remained free. Khan Halger, who leads the religion of Nadur, then silently rejected Craeth's attempt to join the only religion of Seneca. To Craeth, this became another lesson in the failures of those who claimed to lead. He began to see Selvantul, Halger, Sern, and others among the ruling class as variations of the same problem: leaders more interested in power, influence, physical gratification, and control over the weak than in protecting the people entrusted to them. His attempts to seek help elsewhere were no more successful. Craeth reached out to Crown Prince Lyght of Kri'Xina through letters, hoping to find somewhere that he and other Draconians fleeing Selvantul's increasingly dangerous rule could find safety. He received no response. The silence was particularly bitter given the Crown Prince's reputation for offering empires and swamps to beautiful women while ignoring Craeth's pleas for the protection of those in genuine danger. Through these repeated failures, Craeth came to a painful realization: there was no powerful leader waiting to protect him or the Draconians who might follow him into exile wanting a peaceful existence. The institutions he had once believed could provide justice had instead protected the powerful, ignored the vulnerable, or simply refused to acknowledge him. Craeth therefore stopped waiting for permission. He remains a Knight at heart, but his loyalty is no longer to cities, empires, or any rulers. His loyalty is to those who need protection. He will continue to oppose creatures like the Kanmoqmoq and any other threat to Tirradyn, but he no longer believes that authority and righteousness are the same thing. The experiences that drove him from Dhurza did not make Craeth abandon his duty. They changed who he believed that duty was truly owed to.
